Family Life MBC's Notice to the Troop

Posted on Mar 28 2020 - 11:49pm

Parent Webmaster: Here comes MBC of Family Life:"This is Sharad Gima, David's dad.I am one of the ASMs for Troop 645 as well as the Family Life Merit Badge counselor. I wanted to reach out to you to express how much I miss our troop meetings and campouts! It is such a joy getting out there with you guys and doing what we do. I am certainly in awe at how well you guys are doing in scouting and want to encourage you to try and stay active, even during this "Safer at Home" period due to the Corona virus...As the Family Life merit badge counselor, I want to encourage you to take advantage of this time at home and during the Spring break to really connect with your family; one way to do that is get started on your Family Life merit badge. You can download the worksheet online as well as find the pamphlet online (if you don't have a copy). I want to ensure that you do not need to go to get a copy; if you need help finding it online, please reach out to me individually. You can go through the pamphlet and complete the worksheet to the best of your ability. There are some sections that require you to do chores for 3 months; you may have already been doing that so all you need to do is document it. If you haven't, then you can start now. Make sure that the chores you do are approved by parents. Another thing that is great to do during this time is have your family meetings. Also, there are a couple of projects that you need to do - not difficult but probably would take some time...Remember, you can reach out to me anytime to ask questions or if you need any guidance / clarification. Always keep the two deep leadership in mind when you contact an adult leader other than your parent; you can email me (just be sure to copy at least one of your parents). You can also call me at 949-910-6632 or text me there. But again, please have your guardian present if you call or do a group text with me and your guardian... Finally, I have a few Family Life alumni that are still active in our troop that I encourage you to reach out to if you feel comfortable. They are Sebastian, Thomas, and Gaurav. All three have earned their Family Life merit badge and have done a good job. Plus, I encourage you, as a troop, to stay in touch with your fellow troop members." Go Troop 645!

Summary of 2/29-3/1 Tenaja Backpacking Trip

Posted on Mar 9 2020 - 2:49pm

The Tenaja backpacking trip was a short ~3.5 mile backpacking trip in the Tenaja Wilderness. 9 scouts attended for this fun outing and camped out at Fisherman's Camp. Hear what Scout-led Caden has to say about this wonderful trip. "The Tenaja Canyon backpacking trip went very smoothly and was a fun experience for experienced and inexperienced Backpackers. We began bright and early and were on the trail by 10.  We arrived at the campsite at about 2 or 2:30 which gave us plenty of time in the afternoon to do as we pleased. We all enjoyed dinner and had a good night's sleep. The next day we hiked back quickly and we [were] back in Irvine by 1. We all enjoyed seeing newts and they were very active as it had rained. The views [were] spectacular. Those who attended include Caden, Jai, Nilay, Matthew, Gaurav, Ethan, Max, Abel and Aadi. I also would like to thank the adults for their great leadership throughout the trip." Click "read more" to see the picture!
